Pregnant and Back Pain
Pregnancy is a strain on the body, so it is pretty standard for back pain to occur during pregnancy. This is usually the case in mid and late pregnancy when the load on the body is most significant.
Many causes of back pain
Many pregnant women experience back pain or low back pain for periods or a long time. The pain can be caused by many different things, such as:
The weight of the baby, the uterus and the placenta.
Changed posture. When you are pregnant, you usually get a different posture because the balance changes as the baby grows. Therefore, you may also find that you walk differently, which can lead to additional pain.
The pelvis becomes more mobile, which can cause pain at the pubic bone and in the lower back.
Back pain is never pleasant and can make pregnancy hard to get through. However, there are some things you can do yourself to alleviate the pain or relieve it.
Preventing and Relieving Back Pain During Pregnancy
When you have back pain during your pregnancy, it is a good idea to do exercises with the help of a physiotherapist as it strengthens your muscles in both your lower back and back. It is also something you can do preventively so that you avoid back pain or that it becomes unbearable. Swimming and yoga are also especially good for pregnant women and can have a soothing effect.
While it may not seem comfortable, it is also important that you get moving in general in everyday life as it loosens up. If you experience severe pain, you may also want to consider receiving treatments with acupuncture and similar treatments, as it can loosen up tension and provide long-term pain relief in the back and lower back.
Back pain occurs differently in pregnant women
Back pain and pelvic pain are very common during pregnancy, but are experienced very differently from woman to woman. Therefore, if you experience pain, it does not have to mean that it will be like this for the rest of your pregnancy. However, in some cases the pain can develop so violently that it causes serious problems with pain and impaired function.
Therefore, when you feel the slightest, it is a good idea to intervene immediately so that you avoid too much pain and can get tools on how to get them at a distance.
